Everything Confirmed About GTA 6 So Far

The wait is almost over. Here’s everything Rockstar has actually confirmed about GTA 6, with no fake leaks and no clickbait, plus my honest take on each piece.

Release date: November 19, 2026

After two delays (first from 2025 to May 2026, then to November 19, 2026), the date finally looks locked. Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026, and storefronts usually only allow pre-orders once a launch is close and firm.

My take: I’m calling it: this date sticks. Rockstar opening pre-orders is the point of no return, and nobody delays a game this big a month out. Were the delays worth it? Look at the trailers. Rockstar doesn’t ship half-finished games, and I’d rather wait for a masterpiece than get a buggy launch and a “we’re sorry” patch.

Platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only

GTA 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There’s no PC version announced yet.

My take: PC players, I feel you, but history says get comfortable. GTA 5 took about a year and a half to hit PC, and Red Dead 2 took a year. My guess is late 2027 at the earliest. If you’re on PC only and can’t wait, launch week is the perfect time to watch streams instead (hint hint).

The map: Leonida and Vice City

GTA 6 is set in Leonida, Rockstar’s take on Florida, with Vice City (its version of Miami) at the center.

My take: Vice City at night is what I’m here for. Neon, fast cars, the beach strip. But honestly, the swamps and the small towns outside the city might steal the show. Florida is the craziest state for news headlines in real life, and Rockstar is clearly leaning into that chaos. The side content in the middle of nowhere is going to be wild.

The characters: Jason and Lucia

For the first time, the series has a female lead. Lucia and Jason are the duo at the heart of the story, and the trailers have pushed a Bonnie-and-Clyde vibe hard.

My take: Everyone’s expecting a love story, and that’s exactly why I think someone gets betrayed. Rockstar loves breaking your heart (see: Arthur Morgan). My theory: Lucia is the brains of the operation, Jason gets pulled in deeper than he wants, and the ending forces you to choose between them. Drop your theory in the comments.

Price, preload and what’s still unknown

Update (October 16): Rockstar has confirmed the Standard Edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99, and digital preloads open on November 12. See everything from the launch trailer.

Still not confirmed:

  • The exact unlock time on launch day
  • A PC release date
  • What GTA Online looks like at launch

My take: $80 is steep, but with how long people played GTA 5, it’s hard to call it bad value. My biggest question now is GTA Online. If it launches day one with the story, nobody’s sleeping that week.

Final word

My hype level is maxed out. When I load in, I’m ignoring the first mission, stealing the fastest car I can find, and driving straight to the beach at sunset just to see what this game looks like. Then I’ll do the story, probably.

I’m streaming GTA 6 starting launch week. Follow along on YouTube and Instagram so you don’t miss it. 🎮
