GTA 6 Launch Trailer Is Here: Everything New (Plus Preload Date, Price & What Happens Next)

Rockstar did it again. With barely a month to go, the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer dropped out of nowhere on October 15, 2026, and the internet lost it. Here’s what it shows, what’s actually confirmed, and what happens between now and November 19.

What the launch trailer shows

According to Rockstar, the whole trailer was captured in-game on a PlayStation 5. No pre-rendered cinematics, no tricks. The story setup stays the same: Jason and Lucia get caught in a criminal conspiracy across Leonida after an easy score goes wrong, putting them “on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America.”

The music is new too. It features the electronic duo Justice, who are also composing GTA 6’s original score.

My take: “Captured in-game on PS5” is the line that matters most. Every time Rockstar shows footage, people ask if the final game will really look like that. Rockstar is basically saying yes, this is the game you’re getting. And Justice on the score? That’s a perfect fit for Vice City’s neon chaos. The soundtrack is going to be huge.

Confirmed: price and editions

If you missed it back in June, Rockstar has already confirmed the price:

  • Standard Edition: $79.99
  • Ultimate Edition: $99.99, with extra premium vehicles, weapons, apparel and more
  • Pre-order bonus: pre-order or buy before November 20 and you get the Vintage Vice City Pack, a set of neon-themed cosmetics

My take: $80 hurts, no lie. But GTA 5 kept people playing for over a decade, so the cost per hour is ridiculous. My advice: the Standard Edition is plenty unless you really want the extra cars and gear on day one.

Preload starts November 12

Here’s the date to circle: digital pre-orders can preload from November 12, a full week before launch. The physical Ultimate Edition comes as a code in a box, so it can preload too.

My take: Clear your storage NOW. GTA 6 is going to be massive, and the last thing you want on launch night is to be deleting old games while everyone else is already in Vice City. I’m starting my countdown streams on November 12 too, so preload day is also hype day.

Leaks and rumors: what to ignore

Not everything flying around is real, so here’s how to treat the noise:

  • Leaked gameplay (October 8): about 25 minutes of footage from an old development build leaked online, reportedly showing first-person driving and dirt bikes. It’s a dev build, so features can change, and it’s not official. I won’t share spoilers here.
  • PC release in early 2027: reported, but not confirmed by Rockstar. For now, GTA 6 is console-only: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

My take: Avoid the leaks if you can. Rockstar built this world over a decade, so experiencing it fresh on November 19 is worth way more than a blurry clip from an unfinished build.

The countdown

  • Now: pre-orders are live (bonus pack until November 20)
  • November 12: preload opens, and my countdown streams start
  • November 19: GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

Final word: The launch trailer did exactly what it needed to. It proved the game is real, it’s finished, and it looks unreal on a base PS5. Five weeks. Let’s go. 🌴
